Not The Same

You took the word and made it heard
And eased the people's pain and for that
You were idolised, immortalised
And you were not the same after that

Rockin’ the Suburbs is an alternative rock album by singer/songwriter Ben Folds, released on September 11, 2001.

According to Folds, "Not the Same" is based on a true story of a person he knew who, under the influence of LSD, climbed a tree at a party, stayed in the tree overnight, and when he came down the next morning was a born-again Christian.

Hey There, People, I am Bobby Brown!

Hey there, people, I'm Bobby Brown They say I'm the cutest boy in town
My car is fast, my teeth is shiney I tell all the girls they can kiss my heinie
Here I am at a famous school I'm dressin' sharp 'n' I'm actin' cool
I got a cheerleader here wants to help with my paper Let her do all the work 'n' maybe later I'll rape her

Oh God I am the American dream I do not think I'm too extreme
An' I'm a handsome sonofabit*h I'm gonna get a good job 'n' be real rich

get a good get a good get a good get a good job

Women's Liberation Came creepin' across the nation
I tell you people I was not ready When I f**ked this dyke by the name of Freddie
She made a little speech then, Aw, she tried to make me say "when"
She had my balls in a vice, but she left the dick I guess it's still hooked on, but now it shoots too quick

Oh God I am the American dream But now I smell like Vaseline
An' I'm a miserable sonofabit*h Am I a boy or a lady...I don't know which

I wonder wonder wonder wonder

So I went out 'n' bought me a leisure suit I jingle my change, but I'm still kinda cute
Got a job doin' radio promo An' none of the jocks can even tell I'm a homo
Eventually me 'n' a friend Sorta drifted along into S&M
I can take about an hour on the tower of power 'Long as I gets a little golden shower

Oh God I am the American dream With a spindle up my butt till it makes me scream
An' I'll do anything to get ahead I lay awake nights sayin', "Thank you, Fred!"
Oh God, oh God, I'm so fantastic! Thanks to Freddie, I'm a sexual spastic
And my name is Bobby Brown Watch me now, I'm goin down,

Care of Cell 44

The Zombies are an English rock band, formed in 1961 in St Albans and led by Rod Argent, on piano and keyboards, and vocalist Colin Blunstone.
Their 1968 album Odessey and Oracle, comprising twelve songs by the group's principal songwriters, Argent and Chris White, is ranked 80 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

"Care of Cell 44" tells the somewhat uncommon story of a person writing to their partner in prison, as they awaits their release from prison. Rod Argent, the Zombies main songwriter said "It just appealed to me. That twist on a common scenario, I just can't wait for you to come home to me again". Given the subject matter, the music accompanying this is very upbeat and jaunty, and has been described as, "The sunniest song ever written about the impending release of a prison inmate."

It's gonna be good to have you back again with me
Watching the laughter play around your eyes
Come up and fetch you, saved up for the train fare money
Kiss and make up and it will be so nice...

The Mountain Goats is an American indie rock band formed in Claremont, CA by singer-songwriter John Darnielle. For many years, the sole member of The Mountain Goats was Darnielle himself, despite the plural moniker. Darnielle remains the sole core member of the band, but has worked with a variety of collaborators over the years.
The Mountain Goats are currently based in Durham, North Carolina.

[basically, its a couple of guys with a band that are passionate about what they do. but in their town, getting to into something like a carreer in death metal doesnt make sense to parents. cyrus gets shipped off to a boarding school to distract him. but jeff just writes letters to him. the fact that they're pounding him down into what they think he should be stops neither of the guys from living their dream.]

Sixth track from the 2003 album 'The Stereo & God' on Mercury Records.

Joy Zipper is an American indie pop duo from Long Island, New York, made up of Tabitha Tindale and Vincent Cafiso, who are also a married couple. The duo have playing dream pop since the late 1990s. The band is named for Tindale's mother.
Their songs are underpinned with darker scarred lyrics (suggested in interviews to have been inspired by the death of Cafiso's father) causing them to be famously compared to, 'a candy apple with a razor blade inside'.
Musical influences of the band vary from 1960s rock outfits The Beatles, The Velvet Underground and most associated, The Beach Boys, to early 1990s noise rock pioneers My Bloody Valentine, and The Breeders.

Sideways

"Sideways" is a song written by American artist Clarence Greenwood, who is known by the pseudonym Citizen Cope. Although the song has never charted,[1] it has been widely publicized in pop culture. The song is often referred to by a refrain from the song: These Feelings Won't Go Away. The song was included on Santana's 2002 album Shaman. Then Citizen Cope included it in his 2004 album. It has since been covered by artist such as Sheryl Crow and Corey Taylor.

A jazz piano-bass-drums trio performing the songs of the rock group King Crimson? That's what the Crimson Jazz Trio accomplished on this intriguing CD, King Crimson Songbook, Vol. 1. They have transformed the pieces from rocky rock into smooth jazz.

The trio was conceived by Wallace, who recruited Tim Landers (bass) and Jody Nardone (piano) in 2004.

Dashboarded

"Dashboard" is a song by American indie rock band Modest Mouse and is the second track on their 2007 album We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank.
This song was #87 on Rolling Stone's list of the 100 Best Songs of 2007.

This song was written the first day Modest Mouse began collaborating with Johnny Marr. The guitarist later recalled to Uncut magazine: "On the first night we (Marr and Isaac Brock) just set up two amps opposite each other and just got louder and louder and improvised. I just started playing 'Dashboard,' which I'd been playing a few weeks before and forgotten about. And he instantly started improvising the lyrics, which knocked me out. To see someone produce those lyrics just off the top of his head is amazing: I've never seen it done in such a way."

Calm before the Storm

Part I [0.00 to 6.50] and Part II [6.51 to 12.20]

Neun Welten (meaning Nine Worlds in German, which relates to the nine worlds of Norse mythology) is a German music group primarily incorporating instrumental acoustic, traditional and dark folk in their music. The musical style is composed of dark folk, dreamy but also playful melodies and classical elements.
It could easily be called the sound that came before metal.

Destrunken is an imaginary word conceived to convey that dark and mysterious edge to all of nature's finest and indeed, most terrible works.

Pomp and Circumstance #1

Sir Edward William Elgar, 1st Baronet OM, GCVO (2 June 1857 – 23 February 1934) was an English composer, many of whose works have entered the British and international classical concert repertoire. Among his best-known compositions are orchestral works including the Enigma Variations, the Pomp and Circumstance Marches, concertos for violin and cello, and two symphonies.

March No. 1 was composed in 1901 and "Dedicated to my friend Alfred E. Rodewald and the members of the Liverpool Orchestral Society".

The instrumentation is: 2 piccolos (2nd ad lib.), 2 flutes, 2 oboes, 2 clarinets in A, bass clarinet in A, 2 bassoons, contrabassoon, 4 horns in F, 2 trumpets in F, 2 cornets in A, 3 trombones, tuba, timpani (3), percussion (bass drum, cymbals, triangle, side drum, jingles, and tambourine ad lib.), 2 harps, organ — it appears in the final statement of the grand tune — and strings.

It had its premiere, along with the more reserved second March, played by the Liverpool Orchestral Society conducted by Alfred Rodewald, in Liverpool on 19 October 1901. Both marches were played two days later at a London Promenade Concert in the Queen's Hall London, conducted by Henry Wood, with March No. 1 played second, and the audience "...rose and yelled... the one and only time in the history of the Promenade concerts that an orchestral item was accorded a double encore."

Dead And Lovely?

She was a middle class girl / She was in over her head
She thought she would / Stand up in the deep end

He had a bullet proof smile / He had money to burn
She thought she had the moon / In her pocket

But now she's dead / She's so dead
Forever dead and lovely now
